Kontur nominated for the initiative of the year
Kontur has been nominated for Initiative of the Year 2024 by Business Kolding!
We are proud to share the exciting news that our student start festival, KONTUR, has been nominated for Initiative of the Year 2024 by Business Kolding! This nomination wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing support from you students, exhibitors, and partners. We share this honor with you and look forward to building on this success!
Business Kolding will host the award show on Wednesday, January 29, at Comwell Kolding, where the final winner of Initiative of the Year will be decided by votes from the evening’s attendees. Everyone is welcome to meet our team at the event, and as is tradition, we’ll have our creative badge workshop with us.
Fingers crossed and we hope to bring the prize home to campus!
KONTUR is a Collaborative Effort
Kontur student start festival, as we know it today, was launched in 2021 and has already become a flagship for Kolding's vision of uniting students and building bridges between education, culture, and business.
With over 1500 participants from the city’s higher education institutions, Kontur marks the beginning of the student life in Kolding. The festival is a collaborative initiative between Campus Kolding, educational institutions, Godset, and local stakeholders, aimed at giving new students an extraordinary experience.
“Kontur is a fantastic platform to showcase Godset and give students a taste of the unique music scene we have here in Kolding. We are proud to be part of an initiative that puts culture and community at the center,” says Martin Røen Hansen, Head of Godset.
The festival is the result of a joint effort. By working together, we can create a bigger and better event than ever before. Godset oversees the execution, Campus Kolding handles coordination and promotion, while cultural institutions and volunteer organizations contribute with a variety of social activities.
“Kontur is about community for students. Instead of hosting several smaller welcome events across Kolding, we combine our efforts to create one massive two-day festival for students, and the students truly appreciate that,” says Malu Uldall Møller, Student City Coordinator.
Enhancing the Study Environment
Kontur is more than just a festival – it’s a platform that strengthens the city’s cultural and creative environment, as well as its student life. By making the festival free of charge, all students have equal opportunities to join the community and take part in the many offerings and activities.
Through our Open Call initiative, students in Kolding have the chance to perform as DJs on stage. This initiative celebrates the students, supports their talent development, and fosters the connection between student life and the city’s cultural scene. In 2024, we had the pleasure of featuring Linnea Borch from SDU Kolding as one of our DJs.
Among the festival’s many collaborators, students also encounter local stakeholders in sustainability, well-being, and business, offering them a unique opportunity to discover and engage with the city’s vibrant cultural life. This also provides a chance to find new communities and connections.
A tribute to Kolding
Kontur is a tribute to Kolding, creating value for both students and the city as a whole. By building connections between the municipality, educational institutions, and businesses, Kontur contributes to the positive development of Kolding while branding it as an attractive student city.
“Kontur helps to brand Kolding as an appealing student city, even beyond the borders of Kolding Municipality. This includes inviting extra guests, allowing campus students to bring a friend along,” says Mikael Sorknæs, Head of Campus Kolding.
Several of the city’s local stakeholders are invited to engage with students, including Kolding Libraries, Food Reformers, Trapholt ArtMates, Hånd & Ånd STUDIO, and more. Additionally, local businesses join in by offering one hour of free beer in collaboration with Business Kolding, which is a perfect opportunity to meet future talents, whether for student jobs or future recruitment.
When the party ends, students are encouraged to explore the city, armed with festival wristbands that provide discounts and perks at local bars and nightclubs.
The entire city of Kolding is therefore involved, when Kontur comes to life!
